Audit Arrogance
Timing is everything and it shows just how filthy and corrupt this cover up really is.
Timing really is everything.
We should’ve known the fix was in when House leadership dropped a 19 page “transparency” bill on members mere hours before putting it up for a vote. Nobody outside of leadership read those 19 pages and, for all intents and purposes, there’s no need to.
Speaker Ron Mariano (D-Quincy) has a veto-proof majority and has effectively purchased the votes of Democratic State Representatives with his corrupting stipends. Only three Democrats joined Republicans in voting against H.5649 which will prevent Auditor Diana DiZoglio (D-Methuen) from conducting the audit 72% of us voted for on a ballot question
The other interesting (but not surprising) bit of timing is how this bill was released and put up for a vote in June, after the deadline had passed for submitting nomination papers for getting on the ballot. This was clearly done to protect the Democratic State Representatives who do not have an opponent which, in the state with the least competitive elections in the nation, is the majority of them.
So anyone outraged by this glaring snub to democracy won’t be able to do much about it if their Mariano loyalist State Rep is unopposed…at least as far as the primary election is concerned. The good news is there’s still time to get on the general election ballot in November.
If a candidate gets 150 write in votes on the primary ballot in September then he or she will be on the general election ballot in November. If you want to see which State Reps and State Senators have opponents you can find that out at this nifty little website that will let you search by map or by name.
The one thing they hate and fear the most is having an opponent, this year they’ve given voters lots of reasons run and vote for change.
