Why is Dean Phillips getting screwed over?
Democrats are now taking their own candidates off ballots
For a party that claims to be so concerned about protecting democracy Democrats are working awfully hard to make sure you don’t get a chance to vote for the “wrong” candidates.
It’s not enough that the party worked diligently to discard legal ballots and make sure they never get counted, they’re now keeping legitimate candidates off ballots entirely. And it’s not just by abusing the Constitution to keep Trump off, which even progressives like Senator Warren disagrees with. They’re now doing it to their own candidates.
In an effort to rig the vote in Florida, Democrats there voted to not allow US Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minnesota), or anyone else for that matter, on their primary ballot. They submitted only Biden's name to the Secretary of State which means not only will he win automatically, but the contest won’t even appear on the ballot. How’s that for democracy!
I ran into Phillips at a campaign stop in Exeter where he spoke to a small crowd in a book store and openly explained how his own party was screwing him over to allow Biden to win the nomination without any challenge.
Phillips is a serious candidate with an impressive record and someone Democrats should be promoting instead of disenfranchising voters to once again rig a primary for a preferred insider like they did in 2016. They seem to have forgotten how that turned out.
I got a chance to meet with Phillips after that Exeter event and told him it wasn’t just his party screwing him over, the media seems to working in tandem with Democrats to make sure he gets no press coverage, greasing the skids to make sure Biden is the nominee.
The Boston Globe had two stories about him this month, one in November, and one in October. The Newburyport News had one. The NY Times barely mentions him. These are left leaning newspapers and it’s clear they don’t want you to know about this guy.
And we’re talking about a guy who is a very successful businessman, having run Talenti Yogurt before starting a chain of coffee shops. He’s ranked as one of the most bipartisan members of Congress, and a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus, and if elected has promised to create a bipartisan cabinet.
But if there’s one reason why Phillips deserves recognition (and your vote) it’s because he’s the only member of Congress that doesn't take PAC money. So while our other Reps and Senators are spending their days on ""call time", where they spend hours on the phone begging for cash from rich people who want favors, Phillips can actually work for his constituents. He’s beholden to no one except his voters.
Most tellingly, Phillips is an active member of Braver Angels and regularly hosts Common Ground Workshops at his home in Minnesota.
The vast majority of voters do not want to see a Biden-Trump rematch and we don’t have to, if not for party shenanigans and a corrupt media we could be looking at a Haley-Phillips race where voters could be voting FOR someone instead of going to the polls to vote against someone.
Since Biden won’t debate Phillips, and Trump won’t debate anyone, maybe Braver Angels should host one between Haley and Phillips.
I recently viewed Dan Abrams hosting a forum with Sen. Phillips, Marianne Williamson, and someone I've never heard of. It was interesting and I learned a little about Sen. Phillips. I wasn't aware that he takes no PAC money. Admirable. Also didn't know he was part of Braver Angels. So, would you call Sen. Phillips a centrist?
We also have to remember that the Dems have locked out RFK Jr and will not put President Biden on the primary ballot in NH. More games by the Dems. Because there will be no Democrat primary I won't be putting to much stock in the numbers since NH Democrats will be able to vote in the Republican primaries and we already know large Dem donors are donating to Gov Haley.
I not so sure I would use the term "vast majority" since numbers come from polls and we already know the MSM, on both sides, is disingenuous regarding polling numbers. I no longer put much stock in polls since they are meant to manipulate one's thinking.
What a mockery the pols have made of our government, Lenny.
